June Thoughts

In 2020, my husband received orders to Korea. He was convinced his CSM was pushing him out of the unit because a recent knee surgery meant he couldn’t jump anymore (He was a Jump Master in the 82nd at Fort Bragg). The thought of leaving was unbearable for him; we had just integrated our family, I was pregnant with twins, and the world was navigating the peak of the COVID pandemic and this had been coupled with 2 deployments as a Combat Medic, multiple deaths experienced over his 15 years of service and failed relationships prior to us that he had been carrying with him.

For months, I tried to reassure him. I promised him it would only be a year, that he’d love the food and the travel, and that we would be right here waiting for him when he got back. But the weight of it all was too much. On October 26th, just thirteen days after I heartbreakingly miscarried our twins, he took his own life.

Now, it’s 2026, and I am the one stationed here in Korea. Being here has brought on a whirlwind of emotions like anger, relief, profound grief, and a deep, full-circle gratitude.

I am choosing to make this experience as beautiful as possible and to continue honoring his memory in the way I live. I’m not wishing he was here with me, because I have accepted the reality of what happened. Instead, I am praying for the peace of mind to live this next chapter fully present. Here is to finding light in the journey, making the most of every moment, and stepping forward with an open heart. 🤍🇰🇷

Happy Father’s Day and

Rest easy my love!
